Tuina is an ancient healing and highly refined system of medical massage based on principles of TCM. Tuina goes beyond the muscles, bones and joints to work with the body on a deeper energetic level. Anyone who wants to avoid the side effects of drugs or chemical based treatment can adopt this effective massage technique to help alleviate their pain.

Nathi’s Massage Fusion

Ashwin Nathi, founder of Nathi’s Tuina Massage Fusion has experience working in Acupuncture and Chiropractic offices for 15 years in the field of body work.

While the primary focus of spa massage is relaxation, medical massage uses a broader set of therapies for muscle health and recovery. Medical massage is useful for pain management, inflammation reduction, improving circulation, improving digestion, increasing flexibility and treatment of many other health concerns. Your medical massage will come with a specific follow-up plan which will be time-based and often include stretches that can be done at home.

Based on your goals, practitioners can use multiple treatments together to meet your needs including:

  • Swedish massage

  • Deep tissue and trigger point therapy

  • Sports massage

  • Myofascial release

  • Healing touch

  • Prenatal and postnatal massage

  • Aromatherapy

  • Passive Stretching/Mobility

  • Hot Stone Therapy

Cupping, also known as myofascial decompression, is a traditional Asian medical technique. Cupping works to alleviate pain and tightness, improve range of motion and aids in detoxification. Cupping is used primarily for detoxification, muscular tightness, circulatory dysfunction, and treatment of respiratory symptoms. Cupping sessions are often performed during a massage treatment, but can also be scheduled as a stand-alone treatment.

Glass cups and a flame are used to create suction on the skin. This increases blood flow and manually breaks up fascial adhesions. By creating more space between muscle, fascia, and bone, the range of motion is improved and pain is reduced. Old stagnant blood is flushed out of the tissue and fresh new blood infuses the area to promote faster recovery and healing.

Cupping feels similar to massage and most people find it very enjoyable. The cups often leave purple or red marks that can indicate areas of poor circulation and blood stagnation. These marks generally fade within 1-5 days. Areas that take longer to fade indicate less blood flow to those tissues. The feeling can be quite intense in some areas but the sensation can be adjusted to allow for more comfort.

Infrared saunas are an effective tool for natural healing and prevention. Infrared light has the ability to penetrate human tissue, which in turn produces a host of anti-aging, health benefits, making infrared saunas one of the “hottest” therapies for overall healthier living.

Infrared light is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum with the ability to penetrate human tissue, giving a soothing, natural warmth. It is naturally occurring from the sun and is the basis for Sunlighten™ sauna therapy. Sunlighten’s Solocarbon infrared technology is therapeutic because it is 95-99% efficient at heating the body directly rather than simply heating the air. It works to raise the core body temperature to produce a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level where the majority of toxins reside.
